Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)

Students will safely practice SMAW welding procedures in the vertical/3G and overhead/4G positions on fillet weld then V-groove plates with backing to perform the guided bend qualification test for the Kentucky state Bridge and structural certification. Students will practice vertical/3G position and after learning the skill they will perform the guided bend test for vertical position. Upon completion student will receive their 3G SMAW state certification and move onto overhead/4G. Student will practice overhead/4G position and after learning the skills they will perform the guided bend test for the overhead position. Upon competition students will receive their 4G SMAW state welding certification.
