This 16-hour course is a Kentucky Board of Dentistry approved course for individuals who are interested in reinstating their Dental Hygienist license. An additional 6-hour Anesthesia Refresher course is also available following the Dental Hygiene Refresher course. Participants must register for each refresher course separately.

8:00-9:00 Ethical and Legal Responsibilities, Jurisprudence overview

9:00-11:00 HIPAA, Bloodborne Pathogen training, Infection Control

11:00-12:00 Medical history & vital signs, Oral assessment, data collection

12:00-1:00 Lunch

1:00-3:00 Periodontal classification, CAMBRA, treatment planning

3:00-5:00 Digital radiography, intraoral cameras

Day 2

8:00-11:00 Manual and mechanized instrumentation

11:00-12:00 Adjunctive therapies: sealants, air polishing, fluorides

12:00-1:00 Lunch

1:00-3:00 Instrument sharpening, ergonomics

3:00-5:00 Pain control mechanisms review

(local anesthesia, nitrous, non-injectable subgingival options)

*Additional day for full local anesthesia review and injections lab upon request and additional fee (See Anesthesia Refresher Course).
