Hopkinsville Community College and Christian County Public Schools are pleased to host Holiday Super Saturday, a jolly morning of learning and creativity for students in kindergarten through grade six. If you liked KICCS, you’ll love Holiday Super Saturday! We’ll provide snacks and a special holiday treat during a mid-morning break.

Each student will choose one hands-on workshop taught by enthusiastic and creative teachers for their grade level.

GRADES K-1
Festive Food - Use your imagination, colorful candy, and some frosting to turn plain crackers into a gingerbread dream. Design and construct a gingerbread house and transform cake balls into snowmen to create your very own holiday scene. Take your masterpiece home to share with family and friends. Taught by Sara Yeager.
Wonderful Winter Art - Grab your artist smock and join us for two fun art projects. Create a beautiful stained glass holiday candle drawing using oil pastels. Then learn to draw a snow bear and use colorful markers to make him come alive. Keep your artwork for yourself or give them as holiday gifts. Taught by Griffin Blane.

GRADES 2-3
Snowflake Celebration - Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! Create your own whimsical snowman painting and make some fun winter wonderland art pieces to take home or give as gifts. Make a snowflake snack to share with your family. Wear old clothes or bring a painting shirt, and get ready to have some winter fun! Taught by Amanda Kirves.
The 12 Grapes - Start the New Year with good luck by learning about Spain’s most common tradition: eating the 12 grapes of good luck for New Year’s Day. Listen to traditional music, learn Spanish words, and eat grapes while you discover the story behind this Spanish tradition. Don’t miss this “grapeful” experience! Taught by Alfonso de Torres.

GRADES 4-6
Holiday Scholastic Singers - Turn in your sleigh bells and fa la la’s for djembes and African beats! Learn to sing the popular folk song “African Noel” using traditional African call and response. Add syncopated percussion and perform this exciting holiday tune to get us all in the Christmas spirit! Taught by Lindsey Gority.
Ni Hao (Hello!) - Meet three teachers from China to learn about their country’s holiday traditions. Learn Chinese words and songs. Make holiday decorations and discover the differences between our Christmas and their spring festival. Taught by Qiu Zhang, Gang Xiao, and Jiaqiong Li.
