Recent legislative changes now require SUD Peer Support Specialists to pursue their credential through the Kentucky Board of Alcohol & Drug Counselors (KBADC). If you have already completed the original 30-hour Adult Peer Support course, you only need to complete an additional 21 hours of training (Domestic Violence, HIV Awareness, and Ethics) to meet the new requirements for Registered Alcohol & Drug Peer Support Specialis which this class provides. 

Key Points:

• Your 30-hour course remains valid and recognized through June 2026.
• Completing the 21-hour bridge will fulfill the KBADC training requirements (totaling 51 hours).
• After June 2026, the full 51-hour KBADC training package will be required for SUD peer roles.
• Limited 3rd party funding assistance may be available.
