Kids Culinary Camp is for 7th - 8th graders. This camp is designed for students to learn about meal planning, food preparation, cooking, nutrition, kitchen rules, sanitation, food safety, table manners and service. There will be daily activities that go along with the menu that the students will prepare for their lunch.
Monday: Introductions, receive aprons, talk about kitchen rules (sanitation and safety; conduct). Activities/Topics: Glo-Germ handwashing exercise; kitchen tool ID and measuring exercise. Students will divide into teams and prepare a breakfast menu: Dutch baby pancakes, Bacon, Fruit Salad, Hash Browns, Fresh-squeezed orange juice.
Tuesday: Activities/Topics: How to set the table, napkin-folding; table manners and service. Students will divide into teams and prepare a lunch menu: Pizza, Bread Sticks , garden salad, and watermelon granitas.
Wednesday: Activities/Topics: Nutrition - MyPlate model of healthy eating, healthy substitutions. Students will divide into teams and prepare a dinner menu: Rosemary Pork Loin and Roast Potatoes with Green Beans, Yeas Rolls, Peach Crumble.
Thursday: Activities/Topics: Meal planning and prep how-to's; celebration treats. Students will divide into teams and prepare baked treats. Snickerdoodles, Chocolate Chip Blondies, Lemon Puppy Chow, S'mores Bark.
Along with this registration you will need to fill out Summer Camp Forms per child. Students are asked to bring a baseball cap to wear during class.
